Program Overview

The profession of physiotherapy is concerned with assessing, treating and preventing human movement disorders restoring normal function minimising dysfunction in adults and children with physical impairment; preventing injuries and disabilities in the work place at home or during recreational activities and promoting community health for all age groups. This provides a balanced education in related areas of medical science, behavioural sciences and physiotherapy practices. The course also promotes attitudes of scientific enquiry, critical appraisal and reflective practice.

Career Opportunity

Physiotherapy is a profession that is highly sought in Malaysia. Physiotherapists are needed in various places apart from hospitals such as community, nursing homes, senior care centre, special schools, sport team, fitness centre, industrial, private center or private hospitals and government agencies.

Malaysian students:

SPM or equivalent with minimum pass Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Inggeris and 5 credits in

  • Mathematics AND
  • one (1) of any science subject(Biology/Physics/Chemistry/Applied Science/General Science AND
  • three (3) of another subjects (including Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Inggeris if credit)

OR

GCE/O-level or equivalent with minimum pass Bahasa Melayu or Bahasa Inggeris and five(5) grade C in following subjects;

This course is designed to enable students to study the living human body and use the knowledge functionally for greater understanding of the mechanism that allow body movement to take place

This course is designed to provide students with the basic chemical and biological concepts of human physiology, to integrate related concepts of human physiology and to understand the relationship between anatomical structures and their functions.

This course introduces students to psychological theories and principles in areas pertaining to health and well-being. It also examines the theoretical and empirical contributions of psychology to the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of illness. Major stages of human development are also emphasized in relation to the general well-being.

This course is designed to equip students with foundation skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will be exposed to the strategies in effective listening and speaking; parts of speech, simple tenses, and the structure of 5-paragraph essay focusing on cause-effect genre.

This course is designed to enable the student to gain basic understanding of computers and to utilize information technology in providing effective and efficient task related to health care.

Emphasis is given to the use of basic principles of pathology to understand the reasons for diagnosis and treatment of illness

This course is designed to enable students to understand the science of movement and the connect use of the principles of movement science in  evaluating and treating their patients. This course supplements the knowledge of anatomy and human movement and assist the student to have a better understanding of the principles of biomechanics and their application in musculoskeletal function and dysfunction.

This course is designed to equip students with the basics of English language skills and develop communicative competence in spoken and written English, particularly in preparation for tertiary study and employment. Students will learn about verbal communication focusing on Standard People’s Practice. Additionally, students would be able to inculcate values and professionalism and apply problem solving skills in everyday scenarios.

This course is designed to provide students with basic knowledge about the process of decision-making skills and behaviors wisely and efficiently. This course discusses the concept of community engagement projects, preparation of proposal papers and effective project features. The purpose of the course is to provide understanding and appreciation in implementing community engagement projects. Teaching and learning will be conducted in the form of interactive lectures, group discussions, experiential learning through group activities and volunteerism.
