Students will develop understanding on children’s developmental areas including cognitive, physical, social, emotional, language and moral. Upon completion of this program, students develop themselves into teachers who become instrumental in nurturing and guiding young children

Malaysian students:

  • PASS SPM with minimum 3 credit in any subject; OR             
  • PASS O-level with minimum C Grade in any 3 subject; OR
  • SKM (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia) level 3 in Early Childhood Education & PASS SPM with minimum 1 credit in any subject;

PROGRAMME DETAILS

The syllabus covers topics related to give the students a board, comprehensive view of the child at each stage of development from conception to middle school years and consider the biological, cognitive, personality, and social aspect of development. It is also emphasis the different culture aspect that influences child development.

This course intends to give an introduction to the fundamental principles and trends in early childhood education. It fuses theory with practice and covers basic theories and knowledge of child development and early learning, planning the early childhood environment. It also emphasis on the pedagogy and teaching-learning strategies in early childhood education.

This course is designed to expose the students about principles and models for program planning and development in early childhood education. Students will be learning about the Legislation and regulations pertaining to Early Childhood Care and Education. The focus of this course is to explain and discover the quality of ECE programs that are available in early childhood education field. Student will be exposed to the scheduling and evaluation for continuous programs improvement.

This course provides students with the knowledge on theories of guiding young children. The students will be exposed to the strategies and techniques to promote emotional and social wellness of young children. The main focus of this is to give exposure to students about methods of guiding challenging behaviors and on how to create a responsive environment for young children.

This course offers an overview of language and development in young children and the development of listening skills. Students will be exposed to the techniques and approaches of storytelling, reading, poetry, puppetry. Literacy principles, practices and processes are explored as well as implementation and evaluation strategies. This course also offers the techniques of writing for preschool children and the literacy environment for early childhood education.

This course gives focus on how to teach physical education from infants to preschoolers. It also explains about development of cognitive, socio-emotional and physical in young children. Students will be explained how to create a suitable learning environment for physical fitness activity and techniques to teach physical education for special children

This course will examine the importance of developing children’s spiritual and moral values in early years. The course will focus on different approaches to teaching spiritual and moral value, integrating moral with social and culture and creating activities based on moral values. It aims to develop students ability to plan a developmentally appropriate spiritual and moral programmed for young children.

Students are exposed to appropriate information on how children with special needs learn and their role and contribution to society. The course provides information on the debate on inclusive education and the current technology in special education. Students also learn how to effectively work in a multi-disciplinary team. Special emphasis on learning disabilities is also provided in this course.

This course aims to explain about the basic framework of social studies for early childhood setting. This also will help to introduce new teachers to the world of social studies teaching and learning in elementary and middle schools. Geography, history, government and the other social sciences are delivered into the palm of the new teacher’s hand along with a suite of tools, lessons and activities for bringing social studies to life in the classroom.

This course tends to expose and prepare the students the suitable educational technology that can be used in teaching and learning especially to the young children. The course also to introduce the use instructional software, multimedia software and internet as an alternative medium for teaching. Students are taught to create and integrate the curriculum of learning and learning for young children.

This course is offered for 2 years diploma students. It is aims expose the students on phonetic teaching method. This method is the most effective approach in order to build up children’s ability in reading in English. The syllabus is following the children’s ability in reading and writing thus it may aid the children to know letters through it’s sound. This course does not only emphasized on reading skills but also on the grammatical usage and the role of play ( drama & games ) in teaching English to pre schoolers and nursery children where both theoretical and practical methods applied.

This course present an organized, sequential approach to creating developmentally appropriate math curriculum from infants to preschool children. It encourages teachers to create an active learning environment that fosters curiosity and confidence. The knowledge of important mathematical relationship, number sense, algebra, geometry, measurement and the ability to solve successful acquisition of the discipline of mathematics in the early years.

This course examines the major theoretical framework of art and craft education in early childhood and the philosophical principles underlying these. The development od children’s art and craft appreciation is implored through studying young children’s artworks and art-making, as well as studying the 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional arts and aesthetic development. Students engage in their own art-making projects in the course to develop their understanding of the elements and principles of art, and the affective , motor and cognitive processes involved in creativity.

This course will examine the importance of developing children’s creativity, curiosity, problem-solving skills and sense of wonder and appreciation of the environment, in the exploration of Science. The course will focus on different approaches to teaching Science and the development, selection and organizing of suitable materials for Science activities. It aims to develop students ability to plan a developmentally appropriate Science program for young children and apply the use of technology in Science teaching and learning.

Kursus ini merangkumi pembelajaran tentang Definisi Bahasa Melayu dan Literasi Awal Kanak-kanak, Celik Bahasa dan pelakuan dalam percakapan, bacaan dan penulisan, serta Prinsip dan Teori yang berkaitan dengan Bahasa, Komunikasi dan Pembelajaran Awal Literasi. Di samping itu ianya turut menekankan tentang pendekatan dan strategi pembelajaran Bahasa, komunikasi dan juga literasi.

Explore principles, methods, melodies, instruments and strategies for working with children in music so as to enhance children’s knowledge of skill in and appreciation of the aesthetic value of music.

This course tends to expose the students about curriculum of early childhood education from infancy to 6 years of age. It was prepared in response to the need of present and future teachers to understand the role of the child’s development in the curriculum. The National Standard Preschool Curriculum (2010), is also been emphasized and how to integrate it into their lesson plan.

This subjects describes the act and regulations of the establishment of a kindergarten and nursery. It also explain about entrepreneurship, marketing and financial management, business planning and management viability.

This course intended to explain about the fundamental principles of professionalism in Early Childhood Education. By learning this course, student will be able to identify the difference between the terms profession and professional in the context of Early Childhood Education. Then students will be exposed to skills of writing and explain the findings obtained through observations made on actual settings of early childhood professional centres. Other than that, students will be educated about the concept of professionalism in the context of Early Childhood Education through a role play

This course intended to introduce students to the community diversity oriented in early childhood education, discuss on the framework of community and preschool cooperation, introduce s the childcare environment which includes the institutions, equipment, and safety measure and how they are going to work in resolve challenging attitude and behavior.

This course introduces students to the aims, concepts and characteristics of observation and evaluation, the preparation of caregivers and teachers and also the environment in nurseries and kindergarten. Students will be introduced to the methods of gathering data on children and also the instruments that can be used by caregivers and teachers in preschool classes. It also discusses the meaning of follow-up action and children’s portfolio and development report.
